For a full century, golf has been played on Baltusrol's fabled fairways. Beginning with nine rudimentary holes, the golf course was soon transformed into a respected 18-hole championship layout, and then doubled once more to become the two world-renowned golf courses that exist today, the Upper and Lower.

The Lower Course at Baltusrol Golf Club is reminiscent of its Scottish ancestors, with stretches of flat, open land and greens surrounded by mounds and bunkers that have a rugged quality to them. It has been home to countless dramatic championships in its stellar history.

The Upper Course has a vastly different character from its companion Lower Course. Laid out along the foothills of what is locally called "Baltusrol Mountain," the sharp, angular contours of the Upper's grounds, lakes, streams, and woodlands present numerous natural hazards. Putting demands mental discipline and skill because the Upper's greens are both sharply and subtlety undulating.
