This club, which has three nine holes courses that are played in three eighteen hole combinations, was the state's first high-end public facility. These very scenic courses were cut out of a forest and are unforgiving due to the narrow fairways and large, undulating greens that are difficult to read. The Tide/Timber Course weaves through a dense cut of Douglas firs, which allows each hole its own privacy. "Golf Digest" rated the Tide/Timber Course as the 3rd "Best Public Course" in the state for 1996, the 9th "Best in State" course in 1995-96, and 11th best in 1997-98. The same publication ranked it 46th among the "Top 75 Resort Courses" in 1992. The Trail Course is considered by many to be the state's toughest collection of holes. Set against a hillside, the Trail Course had to have four holes reworked a year after its 1992 opening because of their unyielding difficulty. The design features narrow fairways, wide gullies and tiny greens. There are also great views of the Puget Sound and surrounding mountain ranges. Tee times for guests can be reserved six months in advance and for members, five days in advance. For information on the golf school, please contact the pro shop at (360) 437-0272.
