The Palmer Course at La Cantera opened in March 2001 and offers visitors to The Westin La Cantera Resort a second 18-hole course, designed by Arnold Palmer and the Palmer Course Design Co. The Course complements the Resort Course at La Cantera, and together the public daily fee courses are the first in South Texas to provide 36 holes of championship golf designed by golfing legends. Located on 225 acres, The Palmer Course at La Cantera provides golf enthusiasts a par-71 course measuring approximately 6,926 yards. The course includes several signature holes, including the par-3 No. 4 hole with dramatic waterfalls along the entire front of the green and a tribute to Palmer's late wife: The Winnie Palmer Memorial Bridge.

Designed by noted golf course architect Jay Morrish and PGA Tour professional Tom Weiskopf, The Resort Course at La Cantera opened in 1995 and lured the historic Texas Open, one of the oldest stops on the PGA Tour, to its greens that same year. Winding through the Texas Hill Country, the par-72 course has been named one of the Top 10 public access golf courses in the U.S. by Golf Magazine and one of the best new courses by Golf Digest. The course, now home to the PGA Tour's Valero Texas Open at La Cantera is known for its breathtaking views, the most famous being the sheer, 80-foot drop from the 7th tee to the fairway, and offers spectacular views of the roller coaster at Six Flags Fiesta Texas Theme Park and the downtown San Antonio skyline.
